The Hotel Altstadt Salzburg in the heart of the city of Mozart looks back on a history dating back to 1377. Today there is a five-star hotel in a former brewery, which is called Hotel Altstadt Radisson Blu.
Altstadt Hotel Salzburg – from brewery to 5-star hotel
Today’s Hotel Altstadt was formerly used by a brewery and the city was supplied with beer from there. The so-called Höllbräu was one of the oldest restaurants in Salzburg’s old town. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the Höllbräu was owned by the Laubinger family. In the late 18th to the early 20th centuries, the families Elixhauser, Kobler and Schrems were among the owners.
After the First World War, beer production had to be stopped in 1923, but the inn and the accommodation facility were retained. In the 1990s, the building was carefully renovated and the already derelict “Gasthof zur Hölle” was turned into a modern five-star hotel. The stairways, the vault and the masonry have been preserved from that time.
Luxury in a historic atmosphere
The Hotel Altstadt enchants with its medieval wooden ceilings, stucco decorations and antique paintings as well as with its high level of service and comfort. A specialty of the hotel is the uniqueness of each hotel room. Neither room is like the other. The in-house award-winning restaurant pampers guests with dishes made from seasonal and regional ingredients. With a glass of wine you can enjoy the view over the Salzach.
The Radisson Blu Hotel Altstadt
The Hotel Altstadt Radisson Blu is only 300 meters away from Mozart’s birthplace in Getreidegasse and is also perfect for meetings and events. The jewel steeped in history is also an excellent wedding location.
